Abstract

1333484 Wells &c HYDRIL CO 6 Dec 1971 [4 Dec 1970] 56494/71 Heading E1F In a blowout preventer having a body B with an opening 10 for tubing and a side opening 11 for a ram R-1, a bonnet H-1 with the ram and its cylinder C-1 is hinged to the body by hinges P-1 and an articulated connection F1 separate from the hinges leads ram actuating fluid to the cylinder. As shown the preventer also has an assembly comprising bonnet H-2, ram R-2 and cylinder C-2 hinged to the body by hinges P-2, and a further articulated connection F-2. The rams may be moved together by fluid supplied through pipes 60, 62 or the supply for moving each ram may be independent.
