1333377 Pivotal windows; releasable fastenings ARCHIBALD KENRICK & SONS Ltd 6 Oct 1970 [8 Oct 1969] 49473/69 Headings E1J E2A, E2F and E2M A window is pivoted about a horizontal axis through its centre by hinge pins on either side of the window; the hinge pins 13 are L- shaped and have one arm journalled in a bracket 12 on the frame 10 and the other arm slidably engages a bracket 15 on the sash 11. The window sash can be lifted along said latter arm to disengage a locking device in the form of a pin 17 on the sash 11 which engages an inverted L-shaped slot 18 in the frame. One such locking device may be fitted at each corner of the window and the vertical arm of the slot 18 may include a ramp 20 to bring the sash into sealing engagement with the frame. The pin 13 is prevented from axial movement in the bracket 12 and has a clip to prevent removal of the bracket 15. Manually operable means (e.g. cams) may be incorporated in the hinges or elsewhere on the window for lifting the window.
