1333053 Antimicrobial woven or knitted fabrics and applications thereof BAWAG AG 23 Oct 1970 50567/70 Headings A5E A5R and A5T An antimicrobial woven or knitted fabric is characterized in being made of crimp yarn of polyamide fibers to which there is directly bonded a cation-active antimicrobial compound, e.g. a benzalkyl ammonium derivative, a phenolic polyoxymethylene derivative or an alkylaryl ammonium chloride. The fabric finds application as surgical dressing or as surgical face masks. The fabric is preferably of crimp yarn threads having 20 to 200 filaments or fibrils which may have a titre of 3 denier or less. The fabric may include a plurality of layers between which interlayers of antimicrobial natural or synthetic fibres are disposed.
