Abstract

1332820 Heat insulated gas storage containers ESSO RESEARCH & ENG CO 17 Dec 1970 59951/70 Heading F4P [Also in Division B7] A liquefied gas carrying tanker has a hold 41 in which self-supporting tank 37 is positioned. A first thermal insulation 40 is fixed to the exterior walls of the tank and second insulation 51 independent of and spaced from the first insulation is located on the interior walls 50, 52 of the hold. The second insulation serves as a secondary barrier which is protected from the extremes of cryogenic temperatures by the insulating effect of the first insulation.
