Abstract

1332726 Recovery of tin values PROESASA 12 Feb 1971 4524/71 Heading C1A In a process of obtaining tin values a material containing tin values and at least one silicate is heated to at least 1500‹ C. in an electric arc furnace to volatilize the tin as SnO. The material may also contain oxidic iron values and the SnO may be oxidized to SnO 2 e.g. by blowing air over the surface of the material in a melt which can be subsequently reduced to metallic tin. When the treated material is in the molten state Na 2 O, CaO, or Al 2 O 3 may be added to lower the viscosity.
