Abstract

1332657 Snap-action switches; switch cases GEORGE TURNOCK Ltd and H C SHELTON 2 July 1971 [29 July 1970] 36601/70 Heading H1N The. body of a rocker switch which includes a rocker housing 3 and a switch housing 1 comprises two moulded shells 9 lying on opposite sides of a plane including the length of the longitudinal axis of the switch housing 1. As shown, shells 9 are joined together by a strap 10 which can be folded during assembly, or shells 9 may be moulded separately. Shells 9 are held together at one end by a bezel 12 fitted on the peripheral flanges 5 of rocker housing 3, bezel 12 being retained by friction or by being a snap fit, and at the other end by a pin 15 pushed through hole 16 and riveted, or alternatively shells 9 may be secured together by adhesive. Rocker 17 engages a pivoted carrier 20 which carries a cam 24 which when rocker 17 is actuated depresses a spring loaded cylindrical metal roller moving contact 30 until it snaps over to the other side of cam 24. On one side of cam 24, roller 30 bridges fixed contacts 35. In rocker 17 is a bulb 18 connected between metal cam 24 and a contact 26 which in one position engages a contact 39 intended to be earthed. Specification 1,193,072 is referred to.
