Abstract

1331842 Reciprocating pumps AFA CORPORATION OF FLORIDA 19 April 1971 [13 March 1970] 23959/71 Heading F1A [Also in Division B2] In a sprayer comprising a hand pump with a cap 16 for mounting it on a container, and a spray nozzle 25, a severable or removable seal 122 is attached to the nozzle to prevent unauthorised use of the pump and leakage from the container through the pump valves 17, 29 during shipping. As shown, the seal comprises bowler hat-shaped member 122 clamped between outer and inner members of the nozzle assembly, the exposed dome of the seal being severed before using the sprayer. In Figs. 6 to 8 (not shown), the seal comprises a hinged cap with a snapfit on the nozzle outer member, the cap being locked in position by a portion which is severed before use; a similar embodiment is described for a nozzle which is adjustable to produce a spray or jet. Figs. 9 to 12 (not shown).
