Abstract

1331530 Electro-plating and electro-phoretic deposition TOYOTA JIDOSHA KOGYO K K 20 Sept 1971 [21 Sept 1970] 43684/71 Heading C7B A solid lubricant composite of MoS 2 and a metal, e.g. Pb, Cu, Ni, Zn, In, Cd or Sn, is electro-deposited on to a surface, e.g. buffed and degreased steel or Cu plate, as cathode in a metal plating solution containing MoS 2 particles e.g. of 0À1 to 100 micron size in dispersion and a cationic or nonionic surface active agent, e.g. (R 4 N)<SP>+</SP>Br<SP>-</SP>, RN[(CH 2 CH 2 O)n H] 2 or R-C 6 H 4 -O- (CH 2 CH 2 O)nH, where R = alkyl, acyl or alkenyl and n = 1 to 5. Electrolytic degreasing of steel plate may be effected in Na 2 SiO 3 solution; Cu plate may be degreased in nitric acid solution. Pb (BF 4 ) 2 , CuSO 4 -H 2 SO 4 , Ni SO 4 -NH 4 Cl and KCu (CN) 2 -KCN plating solutions are specified.
