Abstract

1330744 Heat exchangers BRONSWERK APPARATENBOUW NV 10 Aug 1971 [10 Aug 1970] 37429/71 Heading F4S A coolant fluid utilized in a tubular heat exchanger is air supersaturated with water which may flow either through or over the tubes, the excess water being in the form of a fine mist which follows the air flow entirely. As shown, a fluid to be cooled or condensed flows through externally finned tubes 1 over which passes the forced flow of supersaturated air from one or more blowers 12. The blowers incorporate means, e.g. sprayers 16, for injecting into the air stream, water which is atomized by the blower or blowers into a fine mist. Surplus water drains to outlets 19. The heat exchange effect may be regulated by control of the degree of supersaturation of the blower air (e.g. by a cock 18 in the water supply line), or by regulating the blower speed or the manner of air discharge from the blower or blowers. The heat exchange tubes 1 may be horizontal, vertical, or inclined.
