Projectiles; fuses. - Relates to bombs in which the detonator is normally held outside the bomb in a tube 5 and, on impact, passes into the bomb, where it strikes a firing-pin 16. According to the, invention, the detonator is made with a solid body 8 having one or two circumferential pockets 10 intermediate its ends containing the fulminate. The tube 5 within which the detonator moves is made with one or more. gaps 7 opposite where the fulminate pocket stands when the detonator is fired. so that detonation is transmitted radially without obstruction and leakage to the high-explosive charge in the bomb. The pocket 10 and the gaps 7 are covered over with thin celluloid. The detonator is normally held in the safe outer position by a friction washer 9, and the front end of the tube 5 is closed by a point 15 and is open to the outside air by lateral ducts 17. The rear outer end of the tube 5 is enclosed in a casing 2 provided with wings 3. In a modification, the detonator has several percussion caps instead of a single one, and is used in the bomb described in Specification 133,063.
