1329893 Valves CONCENTRIC CONTROLS Ltd 19 April 1972 [20 April 1971] 10141/71 Addition to 1329243 Heading F2V The metering gas tap according to the parent is modified in that bleed port (17) and counterbore (18) in the earlier plug are replaced by an elongate port 47 co-operating with a supplementary port 46 in the body, the latter port receiving gas from inlet passage 12 via passages 40, 33, 34, 42 under the control of a screw 35 which is retracted from the end of passage 34 when town gas is used but which is advanced to restrict flow when natural gas is used. A sleeve 30 limiting retraction of screw 35 also acts to limit rotation of the plug by engaging a radial pin (23) in the spring-biased operating spindle (21) received in the plug at (19). Port 47 is wide enough to ensure that flow therethrough continues even in the fully-on position, and is located such that flow begins after 48 degrees of rotation, with the simmering range commencing at 55 degrees with town gas and 65 degrees with natural gas. Groove 48 starts to register with passage 12 after 82 degrees, and main port 17 in the plug starts to register with passage 12 after 110 degrees, total rotation being limited to 170 degrees. Pin (23) in the plug moves in slot 26 which defines an off-position at (27) and an intermediate simmer-position at (28). Passages 40, 42, 44 are each sealed at their outer ends by a ball forced into the respective passage.
