Abstract

1329852 Supply systems for gas discharge lamps HANOVIA LAMPS LTD 10 May 1971 [11 May 1970] 22708/70 Heading H2H The constant wattage mode of operation of a discharge lamp 6 in which a state of ferroresonance exists between a supply transformer 5 and a capacitor 7 is improved by the addition of a delay switching means 8 by-passing the capacitor. In operation the switch 8 is closed at starting of the lamp 6 and after a delay the switch is opened thereby reducing the high leading edges on the lamp voltage waveform. The switch 8 may be a manually operable device, a tuning device controlled by a solenoid or a device responsive to a predetermined lamp voltage or current.
