Abstract
1329512 Explosive compositions E I DU PONT DE NEMOURS & CO 19 April 1971 [17 Feb 1970] 21052/71 Addition to 1216229 Heading C1D An explosive composition in the form of a water-in-oil emulsion contains as a sensitizer an oxidizing salt of a phenylamine or of an acyclic nitrogen base of the type defined in the parent Specification 1,216,229. The composition contains an organic water-insoluble fuel as the oil phase and also contains an inorganic oxidizing salt, a lipophilic emulsifier, and 5-50% by volume of gas bubbles. Inorganic oxidizing salts and additional fuels as described in the parent Specification may be included. The emulsifier may be calcium, magnesium, or aluminium oleate, sorbitan monolaurate or mono-oleate, ethylene oxide condensates of fatty acids, dodecylbenzene sulphonic acid, an alkylolamide, triethanolamine oleate, or the tall oil amide of tetraethylene penta-amine. The gas bubbles may be incorporated by injection or mechanical agitation, or by adding small hollow phenolformaldehyde or glass particles. In examples the nitrogen compound is monomethylamine nitrate or ethylenediamine dinitrate, the oxidizing salt is ammonium nitrate and sodium nitrate, and the fuel a mixture of paraffin and lubricating oil.
