Abstract
1329274 Electromagnetic power couplings CREUTOT-LOIRE 13 Oct 1970 [17 Oct 1969] 48543/70 Heading H2A In an electromagnetic power coupling comprising an excitation coil 1 housed by two pole piece halves 3, 4 of an outer rotor which halves are centred on magnetic lateral checks 5, 6 and define a gap 2 around an inner rotor 1, the centering when cold is effected by the engagement of a cylindrical face 14 machined in each pole piece half with a cylindrical face 12 of a ring 11 provided on the corresponding cheek, and separated from the coil by a free space 19 is an axially slidable magnetic sleeve 28. This engagement centres the polepiece halves more accurately despite the differing coefficients of expansion of the latter and of the cheeks 5, 6, and the powder is prevented from compacting into the shunt between the polepiece halves by the sleeve 28, which has P.T.F.E. seals 26, 27 and bevels 32, 33 adjacent polepiece half lip bevels 20, 21. Tie-bolts 15 secure the assembly 10, 3, 4, 11.
