Abstract

1329057 Photographic silver dye-bleach material CIBA-GEIGY AG 5 July 1971 [7 July 1970] 31437/71 Heading G2C A photographic silver dye-bleach material comprises a support carrying at least one silver halide emulsion layer containing a diffusionresistant bleachable image dyestuff, between a silver halide emulsion layer free of image dyestuff below it and a silver halide emulsion layer free of image dyestuff above it, the two layers free of image dyestuff being at least of equally high sensitivity as the layer containing image dyestuff. The sensitivity of the silver halide emulsion layers which are free of image dyestuff may be adjusted so that the colour gradation curve is linearized. The silver halide emulsion layer containing image dyestuff and the two silver halide emulsion layers free of image dyestuff, which are adjacent to one another may be optically sensitized in the same spectral range. The bleachable dyestuff is preferably a bleachable azo dyestuff. The material may be a false colour camera or print material and may be an infrared camera material. The camera material may comprise on a transparent support, either a purple silver halide emulsion layer sensitive to red light, a yellow silver halide emulsion layer sensitive to green light and a blue-green silver halide emulsion layer sensitive to blue light; or a blue-green silver halide emulsion layer sensitive to infrared, a purple silver halide emulsion layer sensitive to red light and a yellow silver halide emulsion layer sensitive to green light, at least one of the coloured layers in each embodiment being adjoined on both sides by a silver halide emulsion layer free of image dyestuff. The print material may comprise on a support a blue-green silver halide emulsion layer sensitive to green light, a yellow silver halide emulsion layer sensitive to red light and purple silver halide emulsion layer sensitive to blue light, at least one of the coloured layers being adjoined on both sides by a silver halide emulsion layer free of image dyestuff. The sensitivity of the material is increased since the layers free of image dyestuff do not suffer chemical desensitization by the image dyestuff.
