Abstract

1,220,986. Photographic colour materials. EASTMAN KODAK CO. April 25, 1968 [April 27, 1967], No.19672/68, Heading G2C. Photo-sensitive colour-forming units comprise a first silver halide emulsion layer containing a twoequivalent coupler and a contiguous second silver halide emulsion layer containing a four -equivalent coupler, the second layer having a higher photographic speed than the first, the two layers being sensitive, or sensitized to the same spectral region, and the two couplers providing, on colour development, dyes having substantially the same spectral absorption. Multi-colour materials may comprise three of the above units, or at least one of the above units in combination with one or more other colourforming units, e.g. units comprising a pair of emulsions having different speed but containing the same coupler; the colour-forming unit(s) of the invention are preferably arranged in the material so that they receive light before any other colourforming units, and so that the second layer of the unit receives light before the first layer.
