Abstract
1326910 Developing electrostatic latent images EASTMAN KODAK CO 12 Nov 1970 [12 Nov 1969 22 June 1970] 53931/70 Heading G2H Electrostatic latent images formed electrophotographically on a photo-conductive member 2 are developed by application of a powder developer, which is distributed by vibration of the photo-conductive member and by a slanted barrier 16 across the horizontal path of the member. The barrier may be spaced from the photoconductive member at such a distance that toner particles adhering to the latent image are not disturbed, but carrier particles and surplus toner particles are swept aside. Alternatively, the barrier may have a potential applied to it to develop solid areas, and be used with conductive carrier particles. Two barriers may be provided in stream, at different spacings from the photoconductive member. The one barrier may be pivoted, so that its angle of slant can be changed, and the degree of development controlled, e.g. by a servomotor in response to photo-electric readings of density on the developed image.
