Abstract
1326879 Liquid-ring pumps NASH ENG CO 9 Feb 1972 [3 March 1971] 6121/72 Heading F1C A conduit 70 opens at 68 to the interior of the casing of a liquid-ring pump at a region, e.g. 240 degrees in the direction of rotation from the land 66 at which liquid or solid contaminants concentrate in the liquid ring, a portion of the ring liquid and a substantial part of the contaminants being purged from the interior of the casing through the conduit. The conduit may be disposed substantially radially or substantially tangentially of the casing. The removed liquid, the amount of which can be regulated by means of an orifice or by selection of conduit size, is directed into a drain or into the pump discharge. Two openings 68 and conduits 70 may be provided, one adjacent each end shroud of the pump impeller. Apurge passage (68'''), Figs. 7 and 8 (not shown) may be machined in an end wall of the pump casing and located to discharge into a discharge passage 58.
