Abstract

1326783 Coated urea RUHRCHEMIE AG 16 Sept 1970 [22 Sept 1969 18 April 1970] 44237/70 Heading C2C [Also in Division C1] Urea is coated with a protective layer of polyethylene having a molecular weight of 500 to 10,000, or of a mixture which comprises at least 70% by weight of the polyethylene, the remainder of the mixture consisting of one or more aliphatic primary amines having 6 to 24 carbon atoms in the molecule and/or one or more aliphatic secondary amines having 12 to 48 in the molecule and/or one or more aliphatic tertiary amines having 12 to 60 carbon atoms in the molecule and/or one or more copolymers of propylene oxide and ethylene oxide having molecular weights between 1800 and 10,000 and containing from 10 to 80% by weight ethylene oxide units, the protective layer being in direct contact with the fertilizer and the weight of the protective layer being from 0À02% to 0À5% of the weight. The polyethylene may have a melting point in the range 50-120‹ C. Primary amines which may be employed include stearylamine, cetylamine, mono-isotridecylamine and mono-isononylamine. Secondary amines which may be employed include n-propyl-isononylamine and di-isotridecylamine. Tertiary amines which may be employed include dimethylisotridecylamine.
