Abstract

1325836 Brake discs BENDIX CORP 26 April 1972 19375/72 Heading F2E A brake disc for a multi-disc brake and which has a refurbishable friction surface is provided with an annular recess to receive a replaceable insert 21 having a bevelled edge 26 and cam-like surfaces 23 which when the insert is rotated relative to the brake disc co-operate with the recess to lock the insert against axial and further rotational movement. The parts are made from an all-carbon composite including continuous carbon fibres moulded to shape. To prevent unlocking in the case of reverse movement plugs of carbon material may be positioned in gaps 25 developed by rotation of the insert.
