Abstract

1527820 Segmented brake discs GOODYEAR AEROSPACE CORP 17 Aug 1976 [18 Sept 1975] 34166/76 Heading F2E The segments are interconnected by integral tongues secured in complementary recesses by fasteners extending axially through the disc. As shown, complementary tongues 17 and grooves 16 are formed adjacent the outer periphery of the disc segment; keyway slots 20 are formed partly in the tongues and partly in the body of the segment. Rivets 32 (Fig. 5) secure the tongues in the recesses. The disc may be steel or a laminate of carbon cloth and specified carbon-based materials. The tongues and grooves need not be disposed axially centrally of the segment or at its outer periphery and more than one tongue and groove may be provided per segment. One segment may have a tongue at each end, its adjacent segment being grooved at each end.
