Abstract

1325713 Packaging MEAD CORP 14 July 1970 [31 July 1969 13 March 1970] 34188/70 Headings B8C and B8P A carton for supporting at least two articles such as glasses and yogurt containers is formed from a cardboard blank 60 which comprises a cover panel 73, and an apertured base panel 9, each aperture being provided with a pair of flaps, e.g. 69, 70 which are folded perpendicularly thereto to provide a measure of sideways protection to the articles supported by flanges thereon on narrow bands 48-50 of the blank 60. As shown, side panels 61, 62 are provided. The side panel 61 may be adhered or stapled to one of the side panels 62. A band (181, Fig. 8) may be added to the free side panel 62 to ensure passage through a packaging machine. The side panels 62 may be omitted (Figs. 1, 2). A U-shaped panel (131, Figs. 5, 5a, 6, 7) may be added to the free panel 62 so that a superimposed row of containers may be accommodated. The cover panel and adjacent side panels (150, 158, 160, Figs. 6, 7) may embrace only part of the upper containers.
