Abstract

1323878 Valve control arrangement ULTRA ELECTRONICS Ltd 10 Nov 1970 [25 Nov 1969] 57577/69 Heading G1N A valve control system comprises an orifice 1, and a restrictor 2 biased to close the orifice, and a coil 4 which provides electromagnetic action on the restrictor to open the valve. As shown the restrictor 2 is connected to armature 5 acted on by the coil 4 against the action of a spring 3, the armature carrying a magnetic shunt 7 which modifies the field of a magnet 8 thereby influencing a Hall device 9, whose output is therefore indicative of the position of the restrictor. Temperature compensation for the device 9 is provided by a similar device 10 situated at a neutral point but under the same ambient temperature, the two devices being connected in a bridge circuit 33. In operation a demand signal from potentiometer 24 is compared with the signal from circuit 33 in comparator 26 to provide a signal which controls the energization of the coil 4 through a driver stage. A modification Fig. 2 (not shown) provides a different magnetic arrangement which eliminates the spring 3, and a potentiometer sensing arrangement instead of the Hall device.
