Abstract
1322730 Starter drives JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd 9 Nov 1970 [20 Nov 1969] 56823/69 Heading F1K A starter drive includes an electrically operated heater element 15 positioned adjacent a portion of a driven shaft 12 along which a pinion 14 is moved from its nest position to its aperture position, the heater element being energized in use to remove ice formed on the portion of the shaft or to prevent formation of ice on the portion of the shaft. The heater element may be energized with the aid of a manually operated switch or automatically when ice forms on the shaft. The element may be actuated intermittently during conditions when ice can form.
