Abstract

1322629 Nickel-based alloy ALLEGHENY LUDLUM INDUSTRIES Inc 19 April 1971 [2 March 1970] 23628/71 Heading C7A A nickel-based alloy contains 75-80% Ni, 1À75-3À5% Cr, 3-7% Cu and less than 0À003% S, the balance being Fe. The nickel and chromium contents, and preferably the copper content are such as to lie between the lines A and B of the Figure. After high temperature annealing and controlled cooling the alloy is stated to have high magnetic permeability. In a modification the alloy may contain limited amounts of one or more of Mn, Si and C. The preparation of the alloy may involve vacuum melting, consumable electrode remelting or electroslag remelting.
