Abstract
1322546 Valves ILLINOIS TOOL WORKS Inc 21 Sept 1970 [19 Sept 1969 (2) 8 Dec 1969] 44905/70 Heading F2V A device for constricting a part of a flexible tube (64) (Fig. 6A, not shown) comprises a base member 22 having a base surface 36 which is at an angle to two laterally spaced reference surfaces 32, 34, and a clamping member 24 having a surface rolling on the reference surfaces and forming a channel with the base surface 36 so that flexible tubing in the channel can be variably restricted. The clamping member may be a roller held in a yoke (Fig. 1) or held in a channel formed by extending the sides of the base member and providing a sliding lid (100) (Fig. 7, not shown) An extension (150) (Fig. 12, not shown) enables the flexible tube to be rotated through 90 degrees and constricted in a slot (162) to terminate fluid flow through the tube. The base member may have a pair of circular reference surfaces (Fig. 16, not shown) which together with eccentric base surface (31c) and circular clamping surface form the channel of variable depth. In an alternative embodiment (Fig. 5A, not shown) the base member and clamping member are of arcuate form; protuberances (120a) on the clamping member mate with holes (122a) on the base member.
