Abstract
1322111 Planetary coolers for rotary kilns F L SMIDTH & CO AS 31 Jan 1972 [25 May 1971] 17021/71 Heading F4B In a rotary kiln 1 with planetary cooler tubes 2, each tube 2 has an oblique wall 6 opposite the point where the interconnecting shoot 3, 4, 5 opens into said tube and a crescent shaped dedector 8 immediately beyond the above point and on the side of the tube nearest the kiln. The dedector has a maximum height equal to 15%- 20% of the tube diameter and is displaced about the cooler axis and relative to the shoot axis by an angle of 15-30 degrees. A modification (Figs. 3 and 4) has an inwardly directed bulbous projection in the tube wall forming the defector and another modification (Figs. 5 and 6) has a similar projection one of whose walls forms a tangent plane to the shoot. In this latter case the shoot axis is displaced from that of the tube.
