1321822 Laundry bags S ELLIS 28 July 1970 [30 July 1969] 38248/69 Heading B8K [Also in Division D1] A bag for holding laundry during washing in a washing machine is composed of a fabric having apertures between the threads sufficiently large to permit a substantial transmission of the washing action to the interior of the bag, but sufficiently small to prevent the passage of fluff. The bag is formed by folding a sheet in half, and stitching the free edges together along two sides of the folded sheet. A hem is sewn along the free edges of the other side which forms an aperture for the bag. The aperture can be closed by passing a loop of elastic material stitched to the bag around the bag and hooking it over a button. The fabric may be woven from polyester yarn and have apertures of 3 Î 10<SP>-3</SP> cm<SP>2</SP>. The laundry may also be rinsed and spun dried in the bag.
