Abstract

1321661 Pelletizing material W EIRICH and G EIRICH 15 July 1970 [6 Aug 1969] 34371/70 Heading B5A Apparatus for pelletizing material e.g. crude phosphate or aggregate and cement to make artificial gravel, comprises a conveyer 8, a rotary brush 30 for spreading the material as it flows from a funnel 29, and a compressor formed by a roller 25, which can be heated, with a vibrator 31, and a power-operated cutter 33 with a stripper 34 to break the layer of compressed material. Heating or cooling fluid can be passed through side walls 28 and tubes 21. In Fig. 1, not shown, a hood (18) is disposed over the conveyer through which a heating or cooling gas can be passed, and the compressed material is broken by a roller (6) which also causes the conveyer to flex. The embodiment of Figs. 3 and 4, (not shown), has a circular rotating table 10, through which heating or cooling fluid can flow. The material is supplied at a point 11, and is distributed by a spreader (12) before passing to a compressing roller (13) and a plate or roller breaker (14). In Fig. 7 (not shown), the compressor is formed by a plate (35) which carries a vibrator (36) and is moved into contact with the layer of material and then travels along with it a position shown chain-dotted. Air jets (27) are directed on to the underside of the 1 conveyer to ease friction. In this embodiment the material can be passed to a chain link conveyer. The apparatus of Fig. 8 (not shown), has a ribbed conveyer (8) and a compressor plate (38), acting through an endless belt (39) with spring-loaded rollers 41.
