Abstract

1321586 Hydropneumatic accumulators J L GRATZMULLER 19 April 1971 [29 Jan 1970 31 Dec 1970 4 Jan 1971] 20509/71 Heading F1D An hydropneumatic accumulator 1 comprises a floating piston 113 which divides a cylinder 101 into a gas chamber 109 and an hydraulic chamber 111. The gas employed has a density lower than that of nitrogen, e.g. helium, hydrogen or neon. A pump 125 driven by an electric motor 135 charges the hydraulic chamber 111, the motor being started when a contact 133 is operated and stopped when a contact 133 is operated. A cam 131 carried by the piston rod 127 operates the contacts.
