Abstract

1321549 Nitrophenols PROGIL 22 Dec 1971 [15 Jan 1971] 59674/71 Heading C2C The invention comprises 2,4-dichloro-3-methoxy-6-nitro-phenol and 2,6-dichloro-3- methoxy-4-nitro-phenol. The compounds are prepared by reacting 1-nitro-2,3,4,5-tetrachlorobenzene with an aqueous solution of an alkali metal hydroxide in the presence of methanol and then treating the resulting solid product with a strong inorganic acid. The compounds have anti-parasitic activity.
