Abstract

1321434 Washing machines DANFOSS AS 3 July 1970 [3 July 1969] 32423/70 Heading D1A In a washing machine with a drum mounted on a horizontal shaft 4 which is rotatable by a motor 8 through a two speed planetary or other change speed gearing, the motor and gearing are mounted on a support 9 secured to the end-wall 3 of the tub. Preferably the motor and gearing are mounted as a unit and by means of a cylindrical or circular radial mounting surface with its axis eccentric to the axis of the belt pulley 7 so that the belt tension may be adjusted by rotating the unit. The planetary gearing incorporates two-stage reduction planet friction wheels or gears and the two speeds are engaged respectively by electromagnetically and spring actuated brakes.
