Abstract

1321385 Raising sunken vessels CYCLO MFG CO and J D HELBIG 26 May 1971 [2 Dec 1970] 17292/71 Heading B7S In an apparatus of the kind in which balls 12 are pressurized and fed through a conduit 13 to a sunken vessel to raise it from the seabed, the balls are fed from a conduit 15 into pressurizing tubes 17-19 via valves 20-22 by selectively opening suction valves 25-27. When the tubes have been filled they are connected to a compressed air line 28 through valves 30-32 so that the interiors of the balls reach a pressure in excess of that obtaining in the vessel. Thereafter pressure is released from the tubes through valves 34-36, and on opening valves 37-39 the balls move to the vessel by gravity. By selectively operating the valves the three tubes can be cyclically loaded, pressurized and unloaded to produce a continuous flow of balls to the vessel.
