Abstract
1321243 Electric cables SUMITOMO ELECTRIC INDUSTRIES Ltd 25 Sept 1970 45820/70 Heading H1A A cross-linked polyethylene or cross-linked polyethylene copolymer insulated cable has an external semi-conducting layer designed for easy removal. The semi-conductive layer comprises an ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer, extruded over the insulating layer, containing 25-55% wt. vinyl acetate, 2,5-dimethyl-2<SP>1</SP>,5<SP>1</SP>- di(tertiary butyl peroxy) - hexyne - 3 crosslinking agent, and an electroconductive substance such as carbon black. For best results of stripping the semi-conductive layer without leaving any semi-conductor on the insulating layer nor marring the insulating layer are recommended a range in excess of 0À2 but less than 6 wt. parts of cross-linking agent, and 25-70 wt. parts of carbon black, based on 100 wt. parts of the polymer. Inorganic fillers such as talc or clay may be added to the insulating layer. Amine based or phenol based aging inhibitors, also processing aids, may be added to either layer.
