Abstract

An electrical conductor consists of a wire insulated with a coating of a cpd. contg. at least 80 wt% polyvinyl chloride radiation crosslinked with a medium contg. >=50 wt% tetra ethylene glycol diacrylate. Radiation dose is 0.01-15 megrads. The medium may contain 0-50% trifunctional supplementary crosslinks. 5-10 pbw of stabiliser, 0-30 pbw of fire retardant, 0-2 pbw lubricant and 0-1 pbw pigment may be added to the resin but plasticiser is not required. The products are used for insulated switchboard cables.
