Abstract
132,118. Latour, M. Nov. 30, 1916, [Convention date]. Wireless telephony.-In a radio-telephonic transmitting-apparatus, the microphone current is amplified bv one or more three-electrode vacuum tubes which are also utilized for generating the high-frequency carrier oscillations. As shown in Fig. 1, the grid circuit of the tube 1 is coupled to an oscillatory circuit 17 in the plate circuit of the tube. The microphonic voltage is applied in the grid circuit through a transformer 7, the secondary of which is shunted by a condenser 19. An amplified microphonic voltage is produced across an inductance 18 placed in series in the plate circuit and shunted by a condenser 20 to allow the high-frequency current to pass. The amplified microphonic voltage varies the amplitude of the oscillations produced by the tube. In a modification shown in Fig. 2, the primary coils of the high and low frequency transformers 7, 16 are placed in parallel, instead of in series, in the grid circuit. In the plate circuit, the secondary of the high-frequency transformer 16 is in parallel with the iron-cored inductance 18. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also a wireless transmitting-apparatus shown in Fig. 1 (Cancelled), in which the microphone voltage is amplified by two vacuum-tube amplifiers 1, 2 in cascade, and is then transferred through a two-coil transformer 11, or through an auto-transformer to the plate circuit of an oscillation generator comprising two tubes 3, 4 in parallel. The plate and grid circuits of the generator are coupled by the coils 12, 13, a third coil 14 in the aerial circuit being also coupled to these coils. The coils 12, 13, 14 may enclose an iron core. A small capacity (not shown) shunts the secondary coil of the transformer 11. The plate circuits of all the tubes include the common battery 6. The filaments may all be heated by a single battery 5, or the microphone battery 9 or part, of the plate-circuit battery 6 may be utilized for heating the filaments. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 141,047.
