Abstract

1321104 Electric terminals BRITISH INSULATED CALLENDERS CABLES Ltd 21 May 1971 [22 May 1970] 24941/70 Heading H2E A terminal comprises a body 1 with one or more conductor-receiving recesses 2, clamping screws 6 engaged in tapped holes 4, a respective conductor-engaging member 8 resiliently mounted on and with limited relative movement to each clamping screw, one or both of the conductor-engaging surfaces of the body and clamping members being serrated. The body 1 and members 8 are brass extrusions and are assembled with their surface serrations 3, 9 perpendicular to each other, the members 8 being freely secured to extensions 7 of the clamping screws by retaining screws 11, access to the latter being via holes 15, there being a spring washer 10 acting between each member 9 and its screw 6 to provide the resilient mounting. Rotational movement of the clamping members is restrained by its making contact with the wall of its recess. Lock nuts 14 secure the screws 6 to the body. One or more terminals may be housed in an insulating housing and the terminal may be screwed to a support via an aperture 17.
