Abstract

1302921 Current collectors SMITHS INDUSTRIES Ltd 19 April 1971 [23 Jan 1970] 3283/70 Heading H2E A device, for example a rotary switch, comprises a conductive shaft 11, with flats 17, and fitting tightly on the shaft to provide a mechanical and electrical connection thereto is a helical metal spring 25 on which bears a resilient conductive arm 26. The arm is perpendicular to the shaft and may be electrically connected to earth. The switch includes switchsections 10 each comprising an insulating statorplate 12 and an insulating rotor-disc 13. Each rotor-disc has a pair of contacts (18, Fig. 2, not shown), each contact having a projection (19). Each stator-plate has two groups of contacts, each group comprising a long contact (20), for engaging one of the contacts (18), and five short contacts (21), for engaging the projection (19) of that contact (18).
