Abstract

An electrical terminal block comprises an insulating body B carrying a contact bar 2 and screws 3 in threaded engagement with holes in the bar, the latter having lateral projections 12 adjacent and substantially parallel to the screws, and channel-shaped pressure members 11, pivoted to the bar, having side flanges embracing the projections 12 and the screw, the arrangement being such that conductors inserted in the spaces between the projections 12 and pressure members 11 are clamped therein when the screws are screwed into the bar and released therefrom when the screws are screwed out of the bar. The pressure member has a convex surface 9 facing towards the projection 12 and the pivotal connection comprises extensions of the side flanges of the pressure members 11 which are bent over to surround the contact bar. In an alternative arrangement the pivotal connection comprises an extension arm attached to the surface 9 of the member 11 and engaging a recess or hole in the contact bar 2.
