Abstract
1320249 Poling copper AMERICAN SMELTING & REFINING CO 25 Oct 1971 49535/71 Heading C7D Copper is poled by establishing a pool of molten copper in a substantially closed horizontal furnace and injecting natural gas below the surface of the copper at a rate sufficient to establish a concentration of at least 2% methane by volume on a dry basis in the atmosphere in the furnace. The gas may be pre-heated and may be a mixture of natural gas with air or steam.
