Abstract
1319828 Visible signalling apparatus NORTH AMERICAN PHILIPS CORP 17 June 1970 [25 Aug 1969] 29420/70 Heading G4F An actuator for a two-position indicator comprises a coil 21, an armature 26 rotatable between two end positions about a shaft 19a, pole members 22, 24 oppositely magnetized by the coil and leading to poles 23a, 24a arranged alternately around the armature 26. A ring 29 surrounding the armature is permanently magnetized with pole areas alternating round the ring. The armature is held in its end positions by means of a pin mounted on the pole member 24 and engaging with notches in rim 28 attached to the armature 26. On energizing the coil 21, the armature is moved axially to the position 17a, releasing the retaining pin from its notches, and rotates to its other end position under the influence of the poles 23a, 24a. An indicator disc 17 is mounted on the armature and carries marks which are visible through windows in the face 13. In a modification, Fig. 7 (not shown), the armature is attached to a rotatable shaft passing through the coil 21. In a further modification, Figs. 8-9 (not shown), the armature is mounted at the opposite end of the coil to the indicator disc and the stop pin is mounted on the armature and engages a slotted plate.
