Abstract

1319564 Photographic colour developer AGFA-GEVAERT AG 19 April 1971 [1 April 1970] 25624/71 Heading G2C An aqueous alkaline colour photographic developer solution contains α p-phenylenediamine colour developing agent, an aminopolycarboxylic acid water softener and a water-soluble aromatic polyhydroxyl compound having at least two hydroxyl groups in ortho-position to each other. Preferred polyhydroxyl compounds are pyrocatechol, pyrocatechol-3, 5-disulphonic acid, pyrogallol, gallic acid, 2, 3-dihydroxynaphthalene-6-sulphonic acid or its potassium salt, 2, 3, 8-trihydroxy-naphthalene-6-sulphonic acid and tetralromopyrocatechol. The water softener may be ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid or its tetrasodium salt, diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid or #-hydroxyethyl-ethylenediaminetriacetic acid. These developers are stable to atmospheric oxygen and against the formation of chalky precipitates.
