Abstract
1319556 Gas tap and ignition system JUNHERS & CO GmbH 19 April 1971 [16 Feb 1970] 21816/71 Headings F4F and F4T [Also in Division H2] A gas tap and ignition system for a gas burner, in which a spark for ignition of an associated pilot burner is delayed until a gas line leading to the pilot burner has been purged of air, includes a piezoelectric igniter 11 (Figs. 1 and 4) which is operative upon rotation of an actuating knob 10 of the gas tap from an "off" position (marked by a circle) into an ignition position (marked by a solid triangle) to supply a current via a lead connected to extension 131 to an associated spark gap. The piezoelectric igniter 11 comprises an anvil 12, at least one piezoelectric crystal inserted into a socket 13, a striker pin 14 and a hammer 16 attached to a bell-crank lever 17 which is pivoted about a pin 19 and acted on by a striker coil spring 15. The hammer 16, in use, is cocked and fired by means of a tooth 102 rotatable with the knob 10 and a driving spring 20 connected to the hammer 16 with a support member 21. The tooth 102 has a stop groove 105 (Fig. 4) or the driving spring 20 has a stop groove 204 (Fig. 1) for retarding rotary movement of the knob 10, prior to the striker spring 15 becoming fully stressed, ensuring the availability of gas for ignition.
