Abstract

1318704 Moulding press DAVY & UNITED ENG CO Ltd 19 April 1971 [2 June 1970] 26445/70 Addition to 1211562 Heading B5A A moulding press for moulding panels, e.g. of concrete comprises a mould with upstanding side walls, a base movable relative to the tops of the side walls, a vertically movable horizontal top pressing plate with horizontal dimensions greater than those of the mould so as not to penetrate the mould, means to drive the top plate downwardly, and mounting means to restrain downward movement of the base when the mould is in the pressing position. As shown in the figure, a frame 1 has an opening 2 therethrough. A top plate 3 is supported by rams 4 to urge it downwardly and by cylinders 5 to return it upwardly. A mould 6 is inserted thereunder. Mould 6 comprises a base 7 and side walls 8 in telescoping sections 8a, 8b, defining an enclosure 9. Mould base 7 is supported on wheels 10 running in tracks 11 supported resiliently by coil springs 12. Plate 3 is first lowered by rams 4 to contact wall sections 8b which are then telescoped into sections 8a and the concrete therein compressed. Base 7 is forced down against springs 12 until it engages surface 13 of frame 1, further movement then being prevented
