Abstract

1371729 Pressure die casting machines NIPKI "LEYARSKA TECHNIKA" 1 Sept 1972 [2 Sept 1971] 40761/72 Heading B3F In a low pressure casting machine comprising a mould 7, a reservoir 3 for molten metal, a duct 12 extending from the reservoir to the mould, first and second end plates I and 10, a movable plate 9 and an intermediate plate 4, the said plates being interconnected by columns, the intermediate plate 4 acts as a cover to close the molten metal reservoir and also supports a part of the mould 7. The plate 4 is pressed against a seal 5 by a piston and cylinder unit 11 and is locked in position by wedges (15) movable along guideways (14) in the plate and two of the columns 2, Fig. 2 (not shown). When the plate 4 is locked in position the piston and cylinder unit 11 is used to open and close the mould. If access to the reservoir 3 is required, the locking means is released and the plate 4 raised by the unit 11 until the end of the duct 12 is above the top edge of the reservoir 3. The reservoir 3, which is supported on wheels (19) via springs (22), may now be rolled out from under the mould. During a casting cycle the bottom of the reservoir is in contact with the end plate 1, but when the plate 4 has been raised the springs 22 cause the bottom of the reservoir to move up off the plate 1 and thus allow the reservoir to be rolled out.
