Abstract

1317887 Tube pressure filter ENGLISH CLAYS LOVERING POCHIN & CO Ltd 15 June 1970 [18 June 1969] 30943/69 Addition to 1240465 Heading B1D [Also in Division D1] A tube pressure filter of the type described in Patent No. 1240465 comprises a filter element covering the inner tubular body and consisting of an inner wire mesh sleeve with 60 to 200, particularly 100, wires per inch in the circumferential direction and preferably a similar number, but possibly less, for example 10 wires per inch in the axial direction, and an outer filter cloth sleeve. The sleeves are separated by a support sleeve of woven or knitted clotton or woollen cloth, felted by washing, or a felted fabric of heat-bonded, needled synthetic fibres, such as nylon, polyvinylidene chloride or polyethylene terephthalate. The support sleeve is stretched longitudinally to contract it radially on to the mesh sleeve. The filter cloth is a seamless sleeve of cotton or felted wool or woven and heat set nylon, polypropylene or polyethylene terephthalate, and may be shrunk on to the mesh or support sleeve using hot air or steam (Fig. 1, not shown).
