Abstract
1533638 Internal supports for filter tubes BURY & MASCO INDUSTRIES Ltd 17 May 1977 [17 Feb 1976] 06097/76 Heading B1T An inward-flow gas filter tube is internally supported by axially spaced rings 10, 12, 13 which are connected together by at least three circumferentially spaced axial strips 11 of flexible woven fabric, this arrangement reducing stretching of the filter tube material in use compared with a rigid internal support. As shown the filter tube has its own end rings 30 and is removable from the support. The top of the tube and the support are clamped to an outlet spigot 15 of the filter housing by hose clamp 31, and their lower ends may be similarly clamped to an end closure cap 17, which is connected by spring 20 to the housing floor to tension the tube. The lower end of the support could hook directly to cap 17. In Fig. 3 (not shown) the ends of the filter tube and the strips (33) are turned over and stitched round. the same end rings to form a single structure. In Fig. 4 (not shown) the straps are threaded through slits in the outlet spigot and stapled thereto. The rings 10 may be enclosed by covering strips 25 which are sewn to axial strips 11. Figs. 5, 6 (not shown) illustrate alternative connections between rings and strips.
