Abstract
1317742 Hydraulic intensifiers GMBARRETT 26 June 1970 31055/70 Heading F1D A fluid-pressure intensifier 15 comprises three axially spaced sets of cylinders 31, a piston 32 being reciprocable in each cylinder and engaging a multilobe cam 26, and two of the sets discharging fluid to exhaust through port 43 while the third set discharges fluid through passages 48, 52 and port 53 against a resistance. Since three sets are doing work, but only one set discharges against a load, the fluid discharged through port 53 is intensified by approximately three times. A similar effect can be obtained by having a single set of cylinders each of which discharges to three outlets during each revolution of the rotor carrying the cylinder, two of the outlets being connected to exhaust while the third is connected to a load, Fig. 5 (not shown).
