Abstract

1317393 Lamp caps ALUMINIUM CO OF AMERICA 16 Feb 1971 4737/71 Heading H2E A lamp has an annular conductive base 30 which has regularly spaced slots 60 and is resiliently deformable so that it can be axially mounted in a rigid screw-threaded lamp-holder. A lower insulator 24, which is secured to the lower edge 34 of the base has a central opening 26 through which conductor 6 passes to be connected to a lower contact 28. The ground conductor 8 passes through an upper insulator 20, secured to both the base and the bottom of the enclosure 2, and is connected to the base at joint 56. In an alternative embodiment a modified base (90, Fig. 5, not shown) has a free edge (94) and an inner collar (96) which is secured to the lower insulator. Both the collar and the base may be of aluminium. When the lamp is inserted into a lamp-holder the edge (94) first moves inwardly and then the base (90) may be resiliently deformed inwardly.
