Abstract

1317259 Valves S E LANE 19 April 1971 [30 Oct 1969] 53291/69 Heading F2V Above a predetermined supply pressure valve member 14 is spaced from its seat 7 and so flow takes place from the inlet 4 to the outlet 5, the valve being maintained in its unseated state by the pressure of the fluid acting on the underside of a flexible diaphragm 9. In the event of the supply pressure falling below the predetermined value, the valve member is moved into engagement with its seat by the action of bias spring 15. During such downward movement, a rod portion 20 of a releasable lock 18 moves over a lower, outwardly flaring portion of a stop 17 and then engages an upper, inwardly converging portion of the stop, the shoulder formed between the two portions being such as to prevent reverse, movement of the valve member stem 10. Thus, the valve remains in its closed condition. Re-opening may be achieved solely by manually withdrawing rod portion 20 and so permitting the inlet pressure to unseat the valve member.
